We originally had an adjustable bed from a competing brand, but had to return it due to issues with the mattress that it came with. But for a few days we had both the Flexispot S4 and the other bed frame so this gave us the opportunity to compare them side by side. To me, the Flexispot S4 came out ahead due to the build quality and better price va...Read MoreRead more about We originally had an adjustable bed
lue. I was able to have both adjustable bed frames flipped over to compare the structure side by side. The S4 had multiple horizontal support bars that spanned all the way across and were welded to the side rails, whereas the other bed had short and thin bars that were bolted to the bed platform. The Flexispot welds were cleaner and more solid looking as well. The S4 design seems much sturdier and better engineered overall. One key difference is that the S4 uses a fabric cover over a steel grid for the platform that the mattress sits on, whereas the other bed had a particle board that the mattress rested on. You don't feel any difference whatsoever once the mattress is on the bed, so the S4 has the advantage here because the fabric over metal grid used on the S4 is lighter than the particle board of the other bed, meaning less weight for the motor and frame to bear when raising the head or foot.
In regards to the motor, we noticed that the ones on the S4 were quieter than on the other bed, but the trade-off is that they raised and lowered slower. We did have to install the leg motor for the S4, but that was just a matter of tightening two bolts (using the included wrenches) and took just a couple minutes. One other difference I noticed with the mechanics of the beds is that the S4 has a wider portion in the middle between the hinge points for the head and the foot sections, which provides less of a sharp fold to the middle of the mattress. This worked better for me because with the other frame I felt like I didn't have enough flat support for my hip and lower back area when both foot and leg parts were raised. I didn't feel as "squeezed" with the S4.
The side retainer bars with the pocket for the remote is a nice touch with the S4. Helps keep the mattress from shifting side to side. One other advantage of the S4 is that it allows for a "zero clearance" install, which means it can sit directly on a platform bed if desired. We're currently using the included legs, but it will be good to have the option to use a platform bed with storage drawers if we want to in the future. Review by Carmella R. on 23 Jan 2024review stating Satisfied, customer
I bought this for my 88-year-old mom. We got tired of propping up with pillows sitting up in bed when it was time to eat. We have a full size bed and it works very nicely with it since we were able to extend it out a little.

So glad I got this. I was in the hospital and slept great in their adjustable bed. It took me a awhile to figure out that would help fix my sleep apnea. It finally got to a point that I needed to do something about it and I bought this. I should have gotten it a lot sooner. Great product easy to set up. Wasn't too heavy. Did it all by myself.
