Kana Bamboo Standing Desk – A Detailed Review
Source: Flexispot
For those of you looking for a professional, sturdy, reliable, and aesthetically pleasing bamboo desk, we wouldn’t shy away from recommending this standing desk, especially because it can get low enough for you to use a regular chair along with the desk for your day-to-day.
The desk makes a pretty vivacious impression when you get it delivered to your doorstep. We tested out different sizes, and each of them was large enough to support our 98-inch computer setup easily. This is a standing desk for programmers, gamers, accountants, doctors, and everyone in between.
Design
The design of this table has been dubbed as the ‘back saver’ by many because of the greatly varying size option it has, especially when coupled with the curved desktop. The surface has the elegance and class of bamboo, making it quite stain-resistant. There is a natural grain that flows along with the whole table which, when combined with the curved edges, gives off a pretty smooth finish.
You can go for the rectangular option as well if you want something more traditional.
The surface is waterproof, but we would still recommend that you clean any spills and splashes off of it quickly – it is wood, after all. The desktop is available in just one color, but you can change the base color for the same price; white, grey, and black.
Speaking of the base, you have the option of getting rectangular or circular legs, both of which have a reliable motor underneath them. The weight capacity starts from 154 lb (EC1 and EN1) and goes as high as 220lb (EC3) and 275 lb (EC4).
Setting It Up
Our order arrived in two parts; the desktop and the base. There was no visible damage on it, and the surface was covered with a soft sponge/fabric to keep it padded. On the other hand, the corners had thicker padding around them, which was a nice touch in our opinion.
The table is relatively lightweight and can be set up by just one person as well. You will only need a screwdriver and a wrench for assembly. It took us about 30 minutes per table. We recommend keeping a spirit level with you to make sure the desktop is level once you are done.
Assemble the base first and then connect it to the top. There is a 5-year warranty for its frame, motor, and gears along with a 2-year warranty for electronic components.
Features
The thing we loved most about the Kana Bamboo Standing desk is its quiet operation. The standing desk operates under 50dB, which is similar to the sound of someone typing. Besides, its design allows the user to exercise at work.
The table boasts several features as accessories that make it more feature-rich. The add-ons offered by FLEXISPOT are ever-improving. At the time of writing, it includes:
1. Under Desk Bike
2. Standing Desk Mate
3. Vibration Plate
4. Monitor Stand
5. Arm Monitor Stand/Workstation
6. Wobble Stool Color
7. Standing Desk Mats
8. Desk Organizer
9. Under Desk Drawer
10. Cable Spine
11. Casters
12. File Cabinet
13. Modesty Panel in Lower Position (only)
14. Smart Bike Trainer Stand
15. Hammock, and more.
The desk alone features a basic keypad that has an up and a down key. For $50 extra, you can get a programmable console with three memory functions, stages, and more. You can get the console for $20 as well from time to time. We recommend checking stores for when there is a sale.
Pricing
The Kana Bamboo Standing Desk is considered a “budget-premium” standing desk because of its relatively lower price tag of $339.99 for the rectangular or curved desktop. As you go for more extensive options, the price range may increase as follows:
1. 55“x28” Rectangular: +$30
2. 60“-30” Rectangular: +$140
3. 55“x28” Curved: +$30
4. 60“-30” Curved: +$100
5. Pro 2-stage Frame: +$70
6. Pro 3-stage Frame: +$110
7. Keypad: +$50-$70
8. Accessories (price may vary)
The desk can cost you anywhere between $339.99 (basic) and $1,000 with the necessary accessories and adjustments.
Jarvis Bamboo Standing Desk – A Detailed Review
Source: Fully
Offered by Fully, this desk is considered one of the most premium bamboo standing desks out there – something that reflects in the price range as well. It will also make a great addition to any at-home workplace because of the functionality it offers and the sense of professionalism it brings to space.
Design
This table also comes in two parts and gives out this ‘high-end’ look, especially when combined with the programmable touch-screen console. In our opinion, the best combination is the bright bamboo finish and black base. However, other color combinations are available as well.
The desk gives off a relatively light-hearted feel, thanks to its minimalistic design, regardless of whether you go with the curved or rectangular finish. You will find that the top is UV-cured, water-based, and polyurethane-treated, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor offices alike.
Several available darker wood options have their appeal, and they would cost you $35 more than the MSRP.
The same is true for the base. It is normally available in black, but you have the option of going for silver or white as well – for which you will have to pay $30 more.
Setting It Up
This desk is a bit on the heavier side. We would recommend at least two persons to handle this before assembly. The desk is rather beautiful, and that is apparent right out of the box. You will need:
· A Philips head screwdriver,
· Spirit level
· Wrench
· Instruction manual
· Washers
While the screws themselves are available, you may find it slightly difficult to push the screws in. That is where the washers come into play. It took us around 40 to 60 minutes to set it up with the most effort going into the power motor.
Features
The desk in its base form has nothing but a buttoned console on the right side and a wire grommet at the furthest corner for better cord management. You can buy a premium touch-screen console that goes dark after 10 seconds of inactivity. There are several buttons along the screen to help you set the height that’s right for you.
You also get to store 4 settings into memory so that you don’t have to spend an hour just setting the table the next time you want to use it. We would recommend that you invest in a few accessories to make the desk more welcoming.
Performance
The primary reason why the Jarvis Bamboo Standing Desk has managed to make such a name for it is the fact that it is quite durable. It can support a weight of up to 350lbs without complaining. When looking to move the desk, we would again recommend asking for help. The table itself will weigh about 46 lbs when assembled.
There are three main versions that you can go for – each different in its movement range;
1. 2-stage
a. Min height: 73.7 cm
b. Max Height: 122.7 cm
c. Top Size: 120 cm x 80 cm
2. 3-stage
a. Min height: 62.2 cm
b. Max Height: 127 cm
c. Top Size: 160 cm x 80 cm
3. 3-stage low
a. Min height: 55.6 cm
b. Max Height: 107.2 cm
c. Top Size: 180 cm x 80 cm
Pricing
With so many exceptional features, premium builds, and more, the only problem with Jarvis Bamboo Standing Desk is its price range. The base version will cost you $549, in which you will get the rectangular desktop that has a single wire grommet as mentioned above. This is the 2-stage desk. For this price range, you can get the premium version of the Kana Bamboo Standing Desk.
This desk also comes with accessories. Here is a price list of the same:
1. Powered grommets $69
2. Caster $29
3. Bottle opener $9
4. Additional adjustment switch: $35
5. Surge protector $49
The bottle opener is unique and one of the best-selling accessories with the desk. On average, you can expect the desk to cost you somewhere between $850 and $1,250 with the right accessories.
Bottom Line
After carefully analyzing the two, we believe that both are very good contenders and have something unique to offer. However, the Kana Bamboo Standing Desk offers much more value for money. If you have the money to spare, you can’t go wrong with the Jarvis Bamboo standing desk, either.
Just keep in mind that you might be missing out on some pretty sweet deals on the accessories.
